👋 Hello, I'm Unix_Jim — Devoted Father, Cyber-Security Guru, Bitcoin OG, Aspiring Artist, DJ, Peace Advocate & Defender of Planet Earth...

Spawned by an I.B.M Systems Admin. indoctrinated in Armonk (T.H.I.N.K!), Childhood was spent learning Assembler, debugging Cobol & stacking Punch-cards as we bonded: my summers were spent in math camp.

I built my first Oscilloscope at the age of 12 (Heathkit) & grew up a nerd wrangling with an Amstrad 6128, a Vic-20 & later on a Mac SE, with standing subscriptions to Byte, Nibble, & 2600 magazines. Ciarcia's 'Circuit Cellar' & Phrack magazine 'projects' saw me through puberty.

I'd wanted to be a fighter pilot (PPL at 17 and yes, I've met Tom Cruise), but a Spring Break 'incident' at Hog-Heaven in Daytona Beach ruined my eyesight.

And so it came to pass, that my 'hobby' ended up becoming my destiny...

In University, I worked as a Sysop in the Mainframe Labs & built a DOS interface for a spare PDP-11 amongst other hacks. I also contributed to the 'never ending story' on the North-American University wide 'RELAY Network' (pre IRC), as the writer 'Ebonite'.

I was the very first Canadian distributor for American Megatrends (The AMI BIOS guys), introduced & deployed multiple Internet Cafes' in West London circa Y2k, & have worked for Rank Xerox, UniSys & most recently Amazon in IT roles.

Now a Freelance Consultant, I advise on Cyber-Security, Crypto, AI and Next-generation Technologies. I also write 'thought pieces' on Love, World Peace, Web3+, Security and Our Planet Earth.

I'm fluent in Assembler, Python, Prolog, PERL, C/C++ etc., with a wide range of interests including Painting, Robotics, Martial Arts, Running, Quantum Mechanics, Environmental & Societal Activism, Philosophy, Reading/Writing etc.

Fun Facts: I speak multiple languages (including Russian), still have all my BYTE/2600 Mags, dated my 'HOT' History Teacher (after graduation) & once drove to San-Diego in 2 days from Toronto for a "dare date".

I still retain all my teeth, was once married (blame my spare room 'data centre' and the accursed TV show 'Desperate Housewives'!), and owe my Principles & 'Spirit of Carpe Diem to early influences by Stan & Bruce Lee, Calvin & Hobbes (B. Waterson), Tintin & Dr. Spock (the Vulcan.)

I absolutely believe in God 'the Creator', BUT I don't "practise" any religion although born Catholic: Morality, Empathy & Common sense form my Ethos. I've refused to watch TV on principle since my heartbreak in 2014 - I prefer to code, read or wander random paths in thought.

And sometimes, I dance!
